June 25, 2015 – Apprio Inc.’s President, Darryl Britt, discussed the value of teaming with other businesses to win government contracts, focusing on teaming agreements, subcontracts and joint ventures. He shared his experiences in successfully partnering while serving as panelist at a Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF) event in June. Britt shared insights with SECAF members on positioning a company for greater success on the panel entitled “Member Forum: Teaming Agreements – A Strategic Asset for Corporate Growth.”
Britt’s advice encompasses to fully vet teaming partners prior to signing agreements. This includes potential partners’ past performances with their clients, their financial stability, management procedures and key personnel. “Ideally, your teaming partners should be companies that you would like to continue to team with on future opportunities and which have a similar business culture,” Britt says.
Selecting the right teaming partner means that companies should complement each other in capabilities, Britt says.
In addition to sharing best practices, Britt outlined potential pitfalls and their limitations. Additionally, he says to incorporate a legal review of new and or complex agreements and relationships.
Britt was able to draw upon his more than 25 years in business and the lessons he’s learned during his career. Apprio was recognized this year as a finalist for the SECAF Government Contractor of the Year in the $12M-25M category.
