Jan. 13, 2016 – Apprio Inc.’s president, Darryl Britt, discussed how to compete in the government contracting arena, how to successfully partner with other contractors and how to win contracts as a panelist for a Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF) event.

Britt shared insights on effectively taking a company’s brand to both the marketplace and to customers on the panel entitled “Strategic Differentiation: Keys to Success in the Changing Gov Con Environment.” Branding is vital for small businesses, he emphasized. As part of brand marketing, planning and strategy are important to ensure a company’s image resonates with customers and potential customers, he said.
Another driver for business growth is certifications, he said. Increasingly, certifications are required to showcase a company’s expertise and boost a company’s image for winning contracts and government contracting teaming opportunities. Such certifications provide third-party validation that a company is healthy, has met established standards and is committed to supporting quality control, he said.

Undergoing the process for certifications involves a significant commitment of time and effort, according to Britt. Apprio has learned much from the various certification processes, he said. To help attendees build their certifications, Britt provided insight on resources required to obtain certifications such as ISO 90001, ISO 27001 and CMMI Level.
