Eric Huweart, Vice President, Military and Veteran Health
Eric Huweart oversees Apprio’s support to the Military Health System and Veterans Health Administration. He leads Apprio’s teams performing a broad variety of technical and program management activities ranging from building common technical models for these agencies to share electronic health records, to supporting the financial underpinnings of large technical programs.
He brings more than 24 years of military healthcare management experience to Apprio. Most recently, he was chief of staff for the Military Health System chief information officer, overseeing management of the Defense Health Agency Healthcare Information Technology Directorate. As a colonel in the United States Air Force Medical Services Corps, he had numerous leadership positions at the clinic, hospital, medical center and headquarters level. This includes chief operating officer for the Pope AFB Medical Clinic where he directed healthcare support activities with an $5.1 million annual budget and the Air Force Medical Service deputy chief information officer where he was responsible for managing and advising on a $1.3 billion healthcare information technology portfolio.
Huweart earned a bachelor’s of science degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, and master’s degrees in healthcare administration and business administration from the University of Florida, Gainesville. He is a member of the Health Information Management Systems Society and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS).
