Health IT Veteran and PMP to Oversee Company’s Federal Healthcare Group
Washington, D.C., Oct. 5, 2015 — Apprio, a leading provider of specialized technology solutions, particularly for the health, defense and homeland security markets, today announced the appointment of Andy Leone as the new executive vice president of health programs. Leone will act as the overall program manager for Apprio’s Strategic Partners Acquisition Contract (SPARC) efforts.
With prior experience as an executive for both SRA and GDIT, Leone has supported the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for more than 10 years, having directly managed such programs as Customer Support for Medicare Modernization (CSMM) and the Retiree Drug Subsidy System (RDS). He also had executive responsibility over the ViPS Medicare System (VMS) and the Drug Data Processing System (DDPS). Leone and his team were responsible for the implementation of one of the initial IT projects generated from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). That program was the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP), and then Leone went on to run additional ACA programs including the Enrollment Assistance Program (EAP) and Financial Management Program Support (FMPS). While at GDIT, Leone ran the Health Group’s PMO which was responsible for achieving CMMI ML3 and ML4, and EVMS certifications.
“We’re excited to have Andy on board to lead our health programs,” said Darryl Britt, Apprio’s president. “With his executive management expertise supporting healthcare agencies, I’m confident he will hit the ground running, successfully supporting our federal healthcare clients in delivering the technology solutions that they need to accomplish their missions.”
Leone is a recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) and has more than 10 years of experience in health programs, including eHealth records, health surveillance and the Nationwide Health Information Network.
“Apprio provides specialized healthcare solutions to quite many federal agencies, including CMS, ONC, Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Food and Drug Administration to help these agencies realize efficiencies and to improve business operations,” Leone said. “My healthcare priorities fit well with Apprio, and I’m excited to join such a progressive company operating in such a key area with our federal customers.”
